TextFit reads the text out of your images entirely on your device. Your images are never uploaded, transmitted, or stored anywhere. We collect no personal data.
All OCR happens locally in your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly (tesseract.js). Nothing is uploaded, and there are no servers involved in reading your images — you can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and TextFit keeps working.
The English language pack ships inside the app and works fully offline. If you buy Pro and pick an additional language, that language's data file is downloaded from a public CDN (cdn.jsdelivr.net) the first time you use it, then cached in your browser so it won't download again. This is a one-way download of data files — your images and the text extracted from them are never sent anywhere.
The TextFit browser extension collects nothing: no analytics, no telemetry, no cookies, no account. It requests only the "storage" permission, to remember your theme choice and (if you buy Pro) your license key — it has no access to the pages you visit. If we ever add privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics to the website version, they will never include your images or any personal data, and this policy will be updated first.
Purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy (their privacy policy applies to checkout). Your license key is stored only in your browser's local storage and is verified offline — no license server, no phone-home.
